eBooks in San Diego Public Libraries
Although the old-fashioned book remains one of the most popular items to check out in libraries today, the San Diego Public Libraries also offer eBooks, which are electronic books that a patron can access from a computer. While the eBooks would undoubtedly be useful for research projects - where numerous trips to the library would be necessary - eBooks can usually only be checked out for one week while hard-copy books can be checked out for three weeks. While neither medium is likely to go out of date anytime soon, both have their advantages and disadvantages. eBooks don't have to be carried, but a computer is needed to access them. Books can be taken anywhere, but too many can be cumbersome. In the end, it all depends upon how much time you wish to spend on reading a book and whether you are willing to use a computer.

You've got that right. There's a time and place for everything. I can't understand why anyone would want a cookbook on a CD-Rom. Why would you want a computer in a crowded kitchen? (and what kitchen isn't crowded!)Just think how messy that keyboard would get!
